In addition to the Board of Supervisors, the County has four elected officials serving the public. The Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk’s duties include birth and death certificates, marriage licenses, fictitious business licenses, and property tax assessment. The Sheriff oversees law enforcement in contracted cities and unincorporated areas. The District Attorney prosecutes suspected criminals. The Treasurer/Tax Collector manages a multi-billion dollar investment pool and collects property taxes.
